The business unit Interventional X-ray of Philips Healthcare was designing a new interface for its interventional X-ray device. As a usability engineer I was tasked with planning several test rounds to test the usability and safety of the device as well as a cardiology application.
I coordinated and executed an expert review on the device together with fellow usability engineers. We followed a cognitive walkthrough approach and identified around 70 issues.
Subsequently, together with a colleague I planned and conducted a formative test with radiologists in which we tested frequently used and safety related tasks. We trained clinical marketing managers to participate in the sessions as a moderator and acted as an observer. Test were conducted following the FDA guidelines, and simulated actual use of the device and software.
