ING was in the market for a new business intelligence tool that would support it's employees in making informed decisions about products and service delivery. Two tools were compared by two groups who worked with demo versions of each tool for a full day at the suppliers' site. To fairly assess the user experience, the order in which participants used the tools was balanced. Also, the tasks they executed and the amount of training they received was kept constant as much as possible. Each tool was evaluated using a standardized usability survey (SUS), and participants were directly asked which they preferred.
